Welcome back to our Royals Inspired series. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are our inspiration but not associated with the content.
It might be another Christmas away from Sandringham for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Out the door is the Sandringham 4pm tea, black tie dinner, and Christmas pudding with brandy butter.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle famously spent last Christmas in a home on Vancouver Island near North Saanich. The Duke and Duchess had previously spent every Christmas since their 2017 engagement at the Queen’s Sandringham Estate. While in Canada, the palace issued a statement that said, “They are enjoying sharing the warmth of the Canadian people,” regarding their holiday, “and the beauty of the landscape with their young son.”
Now officially residents of beachy dream Montecito, CA, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex might find it difficult (and dangerous) to travel due to COVID-19. The pair also seem very keen on doing things their way and creating their own family traditions.
We asked ChicExecs PR and Branding‘s Talia Berkstein to describe what a California Christmas might look like.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle love spending time outdoors and equally appreciate their lavish new backyard. According to US Weekly, the Sussexes are already planning renovation. To compliment the home’s wine cellar, Prince Harry wants to build a custom bar outdoors. “He’s talking about building a tasteful drinking area by the pool” for when their famous friends and neighbors visit, the source told US Weekly.
Talia has a quick fix to up your pool game this holiday season. “PoolCandy!” The sunshine savants offer a variety of pool floats and inflatable toys that will elevate your backyard instantly. “Perfect for some backyard fun, pool parties, or even just relaxing on inflatable chairs,” she says.
And while worshipping the sun can be fun – you have to protect your skin 24/7! That’s why Talia recommends Nelly DeVuyst – SPF 30 Mineral Sunscreen. Meghan wears very minimal makeup so she might appreciate Nelly DeVuyst’s translucent mineral anti-aging sun protection. According to their website the product, “Provides broad-spectrum UVA/UVB sun protection to prevent sunburns and offer daily protection against urban and digital pollution.” Talia adds, “Its ultra-innovative texture melts into the skin and is incredibly lightweight.”
No cinnamon scents here! A California Christmas is going to smell like Cali Vibes Candle Co. “Spreading love, passion and the good vibes spirit of California,” Talia explains, “Every Cali Vibes Candle is hand poured with the purest all natural soy wax, to ensure the highest quality and performance.” The products are made with phthalate free fragrance oils that are blended with all natural essential oils. This Christmas could smell like fragrances, “Sea + Fog” or “Pacific Surf” for the royal couple. Yule love it!
Finally, say no to ugly Christmas sweaters and hello to Mer-Sea Beach Wraps. Perfect for a royal jetsetter, “The Mer-Sea Beach Wrap is hand woven on traditional looms in Turkey from soft, light cotton. It is pool-worthy, dinner-worthy and plane worthy too!” Talia tells To Di For Daily‘s Kinsey Schofield. “Paired with a matching travel bag that is perfect to hold a magazine, sunscreen and your shades.” This minimalist-chic style is classic and simple and reminds us of something we might see Meghan Markle wearing along Butterfly Beach or around the backyard.
Weigh in. Would you rather spend the holiday decorating pineapple Christmas tress in California or snuggled up in Sandringham watching the Queen’s Speech?
