Recreating Kate Middleton’s minimal makeup look with Honest Beauty

Welcome back to our Royals Inspired series. The Duchess of Cambridge is our inspiration but not associated with the content.

I’m trying to recreate Kate Middleton’s effortless “no makeup” look with Honest Beauty products and prayer.

The Duchess of Cambridge is a Mom of three and STILL looks like the runway model that Prince William fell crazy in love with. PS. Does Kate give off low-key LC vibes from The Hills? I love both women so this is an exciting revelation to me.

We know Kate is very keen on exercise and drinks plenty of water. Previous reports indicate that “simplicity” is key when it comes to her beauty routine. Although, living a life that requires you to be paparazzi proof 24/7 has got to include some spoils, right? Like, at least a blowout?

According to the author of Kate: A Biography, Kate always has a compact mirror, a handkerchief, lip gloss and blotting paper on her when she is out in public. (She’s probably added a mask and hand sanitizer to that list by now!)

The Duchess does a fantastic job of achieving the minimal makeup look while still looking like a movie star. Kate has beautiful skin and to try to achieve a similar “glow,” I use a hydrating face cream before applying my makeup. I start with Honest Beauty‘s Hydrogel Cream ($20.)

Everyone has their preferred foundation. Maybe you’ve worn it since you were a teenager! It doesn’t matter what brand you use or how expensive it is… the key to great foundation is matching your skin correctly. Good Housekeeping agrees that Kate’s foundation is always perfectly matched to her skin color. This accomplishes that “barely there” foundation look vs. blotches of unblended color on your face or neck.

Something Kate never skips (that I often do) is blush. I made an effort to find a beautiful blush color that I couldn’t live without. I chose Honest Beauty‘s “Frisky” ($13) blush. It’s a brand new color and boy does it pop! The pigment is bold… I very gently trace my cheekbones but still find myself using another brush to blend. What a beautiful color!

Another unique suggestion from the “no makeup” gang is to brush UP your brows! “Bushy, unruly brows are both accepted and ENCOURAGED,” says TheEveryGirl. They advise using a brow gel with fibers and brushing your brows up into place.

The next hack is to go light on the mascara or completely skip it. I’m used to wearing fake eyelashes regularly so the thought of skipping my lashes gives me anxiety. Thankfully, there is a solution… I am loving Honest Beauty‘s Extreme length mascara and lash primer ($17.) It gives you plenty of length without the funky gunk. Beautiful, skinny, clean looking lashes. When I’m not wearing my big drag lashes, this is my new favorite mascara.

In addition to her nails, Kate tends to keep her lips either a clear or nude gloss. Very subtle, very elegant, very natural. TheEveryGirl suggests “Popsicle Lips” – looking like you’ve recently been sucking on a popsicle. Good Housekeeping says to get Kate’s look, you should choose a lip gloss color close to YOUR lips’ natural color.

I went with Honest Beauty‘s tinted lip balm ($9) in “Summer Melon.” Not only is the color fabulous, this formula is addicting. I want to reapply on repeat. The texture of the balm is perfect.

At first I was surprised by my pale, not contoured face but I quickly became a fan. It’s low maintenance, my skin did not feel dirty and I actually think I might look younger. No wonder Kate is such a beauty.
