My interview with Vanessa Hudgens for TheKnockturnal.
I just watched The Princess Switch: SWITCHED AGAIN starring Vanessa Hudgens as Queen Margaret, Vanessa Hudgens as Princess Stacy, and Vanessa Hudgens as Donatella Versace… jk, but she also plays Margaret’s wacky cousin Fiona.
You are going to love to hate Fiona stomping in with her entourage and Lady Gaga wannabe wardrobe… but she definitely brings some excitement into what was meant to be a peaceful and stress free holiday/event.
There’s also a reference to Fiona’s tattoo… which hilariously was called out during the original Princess Switch, when fans realized that both of Hudgens’ characters had her finger tat. I don’t know if this was done as a wink or not but I like to think it was. Now all three characters have the finger tat. …Which… is just… Vanessa’s tattoo.
Sam Palladio (My fav from Nashville) returns to the cast. He plays such a sweet and subtle character. I would have liked to have seen more of him… but we do get a surprise song from him at the end. And they do hint at babies. And we do know that there is a third film in development! (Will Vanessa Hudgens play her own baby too?)
Ten minutes into the movie there was a food fight… my fiance looked over at me and said, “How much are you loving this?” I squealed.
Highlights of the film truly include the sets/venues, the elaborate Christmas decor, the wardrobes are fun, and the end scene – which I won’t spoil for you – but I thought it was beautifully shot and exciting.
I love trying to figure out how they shoot movies where an actor plays multiple characters. I found myself saying out loud, “Is that a green screen?” Another really interesting choice that I determined hair and makeup made was the lip color between each character. I also wondered if she ever opened her mouth and the wrong accent came out.
The Princess Switch: SWITCHED AGAIN is a sweet movie. Exactly what you’re looking for if you’re a Christmas movie lover like myself. Even BETTER if you’re a royal enthusiast!
You can stream The Princess Switch: SWITCHED AGAIN on Netflix November 19th.
