It has been one month since we lost Queen Elizabeth II. The official cause of death was revealed to be old age… although some sadly attribute her death to a broken heart. The Queen’s spirits never seemed to recover after the loss of Prince Philip in April of 2021. Now, New York Times bestselling biographer Andrew Morton remembers the Queen’s life and legacy in his latest book, The Queen: Her Life, available on all platforms November 15th.
A tease to the biography reads, “Painfully shy, Elizabeth Windsor’s personality was well suited to her youthful ambition of living quietly in the country, raising a family, and caring for her dogs and horses. But when her uncle, King Edward VIII, abdicated, she became heir to the throne—embarking on a journey that would test her as a woman and queen.”
Isn’t that incredible to think about? Thrust into this life changing (slightly inconvenient?) position and Her Majesty completely owned it. She did not run from the responsibility or search for an out. The perseverance and discipline that Queen Elizabeth displayed throughout her lifetime is rare and especially hard to find these days. It reminds me of her quote, “Never give up, never despair. When life seems hard, the courageous do not lie down and accept defeat; instead, they are all the more determined to struggle for a better future.”
The Queen: Her Life was completed in August 2022 and originally scheduled for an April 2023 release date but will now be available on November 15th. The highly celebrated royal author takes an in-depth look at the influence of Queen Elizabeth – on not only Britain – but the entire world!
Morton has written bestselling biographies of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, Prince Andrew, and Meghan Markle, and who could forget his #1 New York Times bestselling biography Diana Her: True Story? He’s even rumored to be consulting on The Crown season 5!
