Elizabeth Debicki to play Princess Diana in final seasons of ‘The Crown’

Netflix announced that Elizabeth Debicki has been cast to play Princess Diana in the final two seasons of The Crown.

Debicki is an Australian actress that you might recognize from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Peter Rabbit, or The Great Gatsby. She will portray the much beloved Princess of Wales in season 5 and 6 of Netflix’s smash hit.

The Crown recently announced an additional season (6) allowing them to elaborate on content from season 5. Expected to explore the 1990s and early 2000s, they will revisit the destruction of Princess Diana and Prince Charles’ marriage and her shocking fatal car crash.

“Princess Diana’s spirit, her words and her actions live in the hearts of so many,” Debicki said in a statement posted on The Crown‘s official Twitter page.

“It is my true privilege and honour to be joining this masterful series, which has had me absolutely hooked from episode one.”

Elizabeth Debicki is joining Oscar-nominated actor Jonathan Pryce, who will take over as Prince Philip, Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth II, and Leslie Manville as Princess Margaret.
