It was revealed over the weekend that Meghan Markle was “urged to ride out the storm” by The Duchess of Cornwall.
Once Prince Charles and Camilla realized how serious Prince Harry was about Meghan, Camilla invited the Hollywood starlet to lunch. It was one of many, before the wedding, where Camilla expressed that she had been hounded by the press after the death of Princess Diana. Camilla could certainly relate to the scrutiny.
Her advice was simple. “Ride out the storm,” she said. The Duchess of Cornwall suggested that Meghan, “focus on the positives of her new role.” Confident that the negative headlines would pass.
“She was very sensitive to Meghan and provided her with support,” an anonymous source, referring to themselves as a friend of Meghan Markle, told a Sunday paper… “but ultimately Meghan didn’t listen.”
A palace aide has even commented on the headline, telling Daily Express, “The Duchess of Cornwall does understand what it’s like to come from a normal life and then land in the completely extraordinary world that the Royal Family exist in. So she tries very hard to make people welcome and help them find their feet. Her offering to mentor and guide is something she really tries to do. That applies to many people – not just the Duchesses of Cambridge and Sussex.”
Speaking in an ITV documentary one year ago, Meghan Markle told Tom Bradby that she did not feel like she had support during her transition into the Royal Family.
