Every week, I send the producer pitches for stories that I would like to discuss and since this week was so packed… I thought I would drop it here and share what those production notes often look like. TOM BOWER’S BOOK IS OUT AND OMG –
Tom Bower’s book, Revenge, suggests that Camilla is the ‘royal rac**t’ Harry and Meghan told Oprah about after Camilla joked about the Sussexes having a baby with a “ginger afro.” Harry initially laughed at the comment. Once repeated to Meghan, Meghan found it offensive. Palace insiders rushed to Camilla’s defense as soon as the news broke this week insisting that Camilla is NOT the senior member of the royal family referenced in the Oprah interview.
TOUGH LOVE: NO DIANA 2.0 –
Tom Bower claims that Princess Diana’s sisters warned Prince Harry that (despite what he sees in her) Meghan Markle is nothing – at all – like his mother.
TIGGY GETS BBC APOLOGY AND CASH –
BBC will pay damages to Prince William and Harry’s former nanny, Tiggy Legge-Bourke. Recap: Martin Bashir lied to Princess Diana about the nanny and personal assistant having an affair with Prince Charles. The BBC reporter was the mastermind behind a dishonest campaign to lure Diana in for an exclusive interview… to elevate his own career. Diana was so irate over the allegations that she pursued Tiggy at a holiday party and accused her of having an ab*rtion. Tiggy fled the party in tears. The former nanny’s lawyer told the court the allegations caused “serious personal consequences for all concerned.” Now Earl Spencer is campaigning for criminal charges and believes that his sister, Princess Diana, would still be alive had they not been subjected to this elaborate scheme.
NETFLIX STRATEGY REVEALED –
According to insiders at Netflix, the streaming giant is pressuring the Sussexes to release their Netflix original content in parallel with the release of The Crown season 5 in November. Sources tell Page Six that Harry WILL release his book at the same time and Netflix wants to piggyback off of that PR.
THE QUEEN IS STILL TRYING TO MANAGE THE SUSSEXES –
According to the Sun on Sunday, the Queen has invited Harry, Meghan, Archie, and Lili to Balmoral this summer. Queen Elizabeth arrived at a lodge on her Highlands estate on Thursday. She is expected to stay there for 10 weeks. It was reported that the Sussexes disappointingly only spent 15 minutes with the monarch during jubilee. Other members of the royal family are not expected to participate in the potential reunion.
Update: Page Six argues that the Sussexes will not be visiting Balmoral this summer.
PRINCE HARRY’S NAUGHTY VEGAS PANTS UP FOR AUCTION –
This is a Mirror exclusive… The headline reads: “Prince Harry gave me his pants on infamous Las Vegas night out – now I’m selling them.” A Vegas stripper claims that she’s finally getting rid of the pants Harry handed her after their night out – due to the fact that he’s become “a bore.” The incident happened 10 years ago and she’s hoping to get £800,000. Her rep tells The Mirror… “Harry has become such a bore, it’s a real shame. When he partied in Vegas, everyone loved him and his sense of fun. At least these pants are a reminder of what he used to be like… when Harry was the fun prince.”
