Here is everything we know about Prince Harry’s return and Prince Philip’s funeral on Saturday.
The funeral will be held Saturday, April 17, at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.
The service will take place at 3pm London time.
The Duke’s wool coffin will be transported from Windsor Castle to St. George’s Chapel in an electric Land Rover that Prince Philip helped design and will be followed by Senior Royals on foot.
Prince Harry and Prince William are expected to walk behind his coffin.
Due to COVID restrictions, only 30 guests are expected to attend… which would likely please the Duke after he requested a smaller ceremonial funeral rather than a state funeral. STILL, the original plan included 800 guests!
Prince Harry arrived at Heathrow Airport on Sunday via British Airways at 1:15 pm local time. Wearing a black face mask, he was met by police and security on the tarmac and taken in an escorted vehicle to Nottingham Cottage.
The COVID rules Prince Harry must follow:
Prince Harry is not required to quarantine for the full 10 days thanks to a provision in the law which allows him to leave on “compassionate” grounds. The funeral fits that category.
According to the government, he is technically supposed to “self-isolate at all other times.” (Aside from funeral.) Making it hard to make amends with his brother and father.
Harry has to take at least three COVID tests throughout this trip or “face a fine of up to £10,000.”
Everyone, including the Queen, is required to wear a face mask and must socially distance from one another if they are not part of the same household. This means Harry could potentially be excluded from everyone, even his family.
A full guest list has yet to be announced but obviously expect to see the Queen and Prince Philip’s children and grandchildren. I also expect to see Lady Pamela Hicks (Earl Mountbatten’s daughter) and her daughter. She was Prince Philip’s cousin and Queen Elizabeth’s lady in waiting. She was also a bridesmaid at their wedding.
After the service, Prince Philip’s body will be moved to the chapel’s Royal Vault, where he will remain until the death of the Queen. Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth have requested to be buried together… “so they can be together forever.”
The funeral will be televised and streamed online for royal watchers looking to mourn and share the experience with the royal family. We will include a link right here on ToDiForDaily.com.
